Bootstrap your device's LTE-M and NB-IoT connectivity

February 01, 2019 // By Julien Happich
This month, Nordic Semiconductor is giving away ten nRF9160 development kits, worth 140 Euros each, for eeNews Europe's readers to win.

The pre-certified single-board development kit is designed for evaluation and development around the company’s nRF9160 System-in-Package for cellular IoT using LTE-M and NB-IoT. It comes with a dedicated LTE-M and NB-IoT antenna that supports a wide range of bands, to operate globally. A dedicated antenna for GPS is supported on the nRF9160 and SWF RF connectors are available for all antennas. All 32 GPIOs and SPI/I²C/UART interfaces are available via connectors. The kit is Arduino Uno Rev3 compatible, meaning it can be easily interfaced with external device shields. The board includes four user-programmable LEDs, two buttons and two switches to easily give input and get output. The nRF9160 DK comes with both a 4FF SIM card slot and an MFF2 SIM footprint to support both plug-in and soldered (e)SIMs. It is bundled with an eSIM card from iBasis preloaded with 10MB. The nRF9160 DK is supported by a full suite of development software and tools, all free to download and use commercially.
